Back in November last year LPC Trading had the privilege to host an information day for the students of St Stanislaus College Bathurst Year 11/12 Food Technology Class.
We look forward to hosting future events to encourage young people in understanding where their food comes from and how it is produced.
The students learnt the process of producing and transporting shell eggs to the Australian market. In addition to the basic operations, the students were shown the quality assurance requirements for both colony cage and free range egg production.
The students were able to see the variation from free range and cage egg production which led to healthy discussion on the benefits of both production systems and dispelled some myths on the welfare of hens in an intensive industry.
